Case Study
Kitchen Equipment Fabricating Company
The Situation
The client, a manufacturer of metal kitchen fixtures and equipment, was experiencing significant growth and embarked on an effort to introduce more automation into their manufacturing facility. General contractors, architects and business partners were exchanging more data in electronic form, requiring more storage and improved network reliability. The existing network was a mix of small business servers that routinely experienced storage capacity issues. In addition, a new ERP application was being considered that would demand more power and storage.
The Solution
Waypoint designed and deployed a Microsoft Windows 2003 server solution that included the use of Virtual Servers running Exchange 2003, Terminal Server, SharePoint Team Services and an ERP system along with high capacity Network Attached Storage system to house the data.
The Benefit
The client now enjoys an environment with improved uptime, performance and a high level of data protection that provides services to internal, remote users and key business partners. Having the ability to archive past project files online allows designers and project managers faster access to data, reducing the turnaround time for project bids, change orders and manufacturing lead times, increasing productivity across the organization.
