Case Studies
Marek Brothers Systems Inc.
The Situation
The client, a nationwide leader in residential and commercial interior construction, had deployed a six-site wide area network (WAN) to support their primary line of business application and a voice over IP system to facilitate interoffice communications over the network. Shortly after the deployment, the company experienced an increase in the use of Internet-based applications and number of employees at various field offices. Voice quality between sites degraded and the existing frame relay carrier experienced recurring network outages.
The Solution
Working with a carrier partner, Waypoint designed, deployed and continues to manage a six-site MPLS wide area network consisting of Nortel Networks and Cisco Systems equipment. Layer 3 switching gear was deployed in the core, with gigabit switches configured with quality of service (QoS) providing priority for voice traffic across the network. This deployment had to be conducted without interrupting daily operations or significant downtime.
The Benefit
The client now possesses a stable network with low latency across the WAN and improved voice quality across the enterprise. Waypoint designed the network to allow for continued growth as the company expands and adds facilities. With the new level of confidence in the networks performance, the IT staff has greatly increased the deployment of IP phone sets down to the desktop.
