Newfield Exploration

The Situation

The client, an independent crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company, was growing at a rapid rate. The expeditious growth caused files and documents around wells to explode out of control. This in turn caused staff to spend large amounts of time researching and searching for files only to repeat the process numerous times with each new project, resulting in decreased productivity.

The Solution

Waypoint project managed a 12-month, $1 million budgeted enterprise content management project that included five custom development initiatives, spanning across three development teams running simultaneously with eight developers. Two infrastructure initiatives, two database initiatives and a business line data standard initiative were also included in the project. The vast project spanned seven functional areas incorporating 17 IT staff members and 30 business line staff.

The Benefit

The client's well files are electronically stored in a central repository that is integrated directly with the corporate hierarchy and dynamically updated with meta data from the ERP. The client now has the ability to find information and documents in only minutes or seconds.
